The latest Asian films to be released in cinemas include: Aja: The Return of the Bamboo Cutter (Jurassic Park, 2018) The Little Mermaid (Disney, 2019) The Last Witch Hunter (Warner Bros., 2019) The Last Samurai (Tokyo, 2019-20) Ghostbusters (Disney/Marvel, 2020) Maniac (Universal, 2020-21)The Last Exorcism Part II (Universal/Sony, 2020)- A Chinese documentary about a young woman who returns from the afterlife after being possessed by demons and has to battle to free her soul from the demonic possession The Lady in the Lake (Universal Pictures, 2020)”Maniacs” is also slated to open in Hong Kong in 2021.

There are some major Chinese films currently scheduled for release in theatres this year, including: Mang Dong Duk (Hong Kong), The Devil and Daniel Craig’s Jackie Chan: A Movie (China), Chinatown (HongKong), Mong Yiu-Pao (Hongkong), and The Great Wall (Taiwan).
These films are already a huge box office hit, with Movies Week’s “Top Ten Chinese Movies of 2018” ranking the films as the highest grossing Chinese movies of all time.
This is likely to be the most expensive film ever released in China, with Chinese box office receipts topping $1.5 billion for the first time.
